Cookie Policy

Article 1 — Purpose

This policy describes the cookies and local storage technologies used on the website and platform available at https://www.pandectis.com (the "Site"), published by Pandectis SARL-S.

A cookie is a file placed on your device when you visit a website. The Site also uses browser local storage, which serves comparable purposes. Both techniques are treated identically in this policy.

It supplements the Privacy Policy, which you are invited to consult regarding all processing of personal data.

Article 2 — Strictly necessary trackers

These trackers are essential to the operation of the Site and to the delivery of the service you request. They do not require your consent and cannot be disabled from the Site.

• Authentication and security: maintaining your session while you are logged into the platform, and protection against fraudulent use.
• Interface preferences: storing your display settings and language choice.
• Public demonstration of the search engine: a visitor identifier named pandectis_visiteur is stored when you use the engine's trial page. It is used solely to count the free searches and to prevent that limit from being circumvented. It does not allow you to be located, tracked across other sites, or linked to your identity until you have confirmed an email address. Its lifetime does not exceed thirteen months.
• Protection against automated use: the engine's trial page includes the Cloudflare Turnstile anti-bot mechanism, which protects the service against automated abuse. This strictly necessary security mechanism is provided by Cloudflare and may involve the processing of your IP address by that provider for the duration of the check.
• Recording your cookie choice: your decision to accept or refuse usage measurement is stored in your browser's local storage, under the key pandectis_consent_v1, so that you are not asked again on every visit.

Article 3 — Usage measurement subject to your consent

With your consent, we measure use of the Site in order to improve its usability and prioritise our development work. This measurement is carried out using PostHog, on its European Union hosting.

This tracker is disabled by default: no usage measurement takes place before you have accepted, and the corresponding script is not even loaded.

• Data collected: pages viewed, navigation events and clicks on interface elements.
• Identifier placed: a cookie named pandectis_ph, together with a local storage entry, allowing events from a single visit to be linked.
• Session recording disabled: we do not record your screen, your keystrokes, or the content of your searches or queries.
• Routing: measurements are routed through a technical path on our own domain, which avoids blocking by browser extensions without altering the nature of the data collected.

The retention period of the usage measurement cookie does not exceed thirteen months. Upon expiry, your consent is requested again.

Article 4 — No advertising and no resale

The Site places no advertising cookies, no social network trackers and no measurement devices for targeting purposes. Usage measurement data is neither sold, transferred, nor disclosed to data brokers.

Article 5 — Managing and withdrawing your consent

On your first visit, a banner allows you to accept, refuse or customise usage measurement.

You may change your choice at any time, without justification, by clicking the "Manage my cookies" link in the footer of the Site. Withdrawing your consent is as straightforward as giving it, and takes effect immediately.

You may also configure your browser to refuse cookies or to notify you when they are placed. Refusing strictly necessary trackers may, however, prevent access to your logged-in area.

Article 6 — Your rights and contact

You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection under the conditions set out in the Privacy Policy. Any request may be sent to contact@pandectis.com.
